Industri Herbal Indonesia Meningkat Tajam Posted: 30 May 2012 01:48 AM PDT Depok (ANTARA) - Transaksi perdagangan obat-obatan herbal di Indonesia dalam sepuluh tahun terakhir meningkat tajam dari sebelumnya Rp400 miliar menjadi Rp10 triliun. "Untuk obat non herbal rata-rata naik antara 11-12 persen, sedangkan obat herbal mencapai 20 persen setiap tahun," kata Dekan Fakultas Farmasi Universitas Pancasila Wahono Sumaryono, Rabu. Menurut dia obat herbal mulai diminati karena dari sisi ekonomi, keilmuan dan pemanfaatan potensi tumbuhan, sangat berpotensi. "Efek samping penggunaan obat tersebut tidak ada sehingga menarik bagi masyarakat untuk menggunakannya," katanya. Hal itu membuat obat herbal naik tajam, dan industri pengolahan obat herbal juga mengalami peningkatan. Apalagi faktor kekayaan nabati yang melimpah di Indonesia. Wahono mengatakan pada 2011 transaksi perdagangan kimia sintetik mencapai Rp43 tiliun, sedangkan industri obat herbal Rp10 triliun. Dikatakan melihat tren yang meningkat setiap tahun, Wahono yakin industri herbal akan melampaui industri obat kimia yang selama ini mendominasi oabat-obatan di tanah air. "Saya yakin sewaktu-waktu akan beralih industri herbal akan mendominasi," ujarnya. Ia menilai industri obat herbal di China meningkat tajam sehingga perlu belajar dari negara tirai bambu tersebut. "Mereka selalu mendokumentasikan pengobatan herbal dari nenek moyangnya," ujarnya. Selain itu ilmu pengetahuan industri herbal dinegara yang terletak di asia timur ini semakin diminati, dengan adanya pilihan pengobatan tradisional ataupun pengobatan dengan metode pengetahuan barat. Ia mengatakan Indonesia mempunyai spesies tumbuh-tumbuhan untuk pengobatan herbal terkaya nomor 2 di dunia setelah Brazil. "Potensi ini sangat memadai untuk menjadikan industri herbal memimpin pasar obat herbal," ujarnya. Menurut dia melesatnya pertumbuhan obat farmasi karena pada 1967 pemerintah memberikan kemudahan untuk mendirikan pabrik obat farmasi sehingga tumbuh subur. Wahono juga mengatakan industri jamu tradisional mempunyai prospek sangat cerah untuk terus dikembangkan, namun untuk saat ini yang cukup maju adalah industri kosmetik yang dikelola sejumlah perusahaan.(rr)

It is predominantly herbal medicine made from natural materials, such as parts of plants such as roots, leaves and bark, and fruit. There is also material from the bodies of animals, such as bile of goat or alligator used. In many large cities jamu herbal medicine is sold on the street by hawkers carry a refreshing drink, usually bitter but sweetened with honey. Herbal medicine is also produced in factories by large companies such as Air Mancur, Nyonya Meneer or Djamu Djago, and sold at various drug stores in sachet packaging. Packaged dried jamu should be dissolved in hot water first before drinking. Nowadays herbal medicine is also sold in the form of tablets, caplets and capsules.
